Part 06 - Configuring Windows Server 2012 R2 as a Router/NAT

I will be using my Domain Controller as a Router in this setup. Quick and easy.
I was planning on using https://www.pfsense.org/ but will ship that for now.

To do this we need to add a extra NIC to the VM that act as a router for our lab.
At the same time i reduced the memory to 1024MB.

This network adapter will be the WAN access so we set it as NAT. Finish

Network Adapter 1: Internal LAN (LAN segment trainingLAB)

Network Adapter 2; External WAN (NAT)

Click on "Local Server" - locate "Ethernet 1" and click on "IPv4 addresss assigned by DHCP, IPv6 enabled.

Rename the nearly added network adapter to "WAN"

Back to "Server Manager" > "Tools" > "Routing and Remote Access".

Right click on "DC01" and click on "Configure and Enable Routing and Remote Access".

Next.

Select "Network address translation (NAT)". Next.

Select the "WAN". Next.

Click finish to enable settings.

We need to configure our DCHP service offer our Router/DNS.

Server Manager > Tools > DHCP > Expand IPv4, Scope, right click on "Scope Option" > "Configure options..."

003 Router : Add IP address: 10.0.0.10

006 DNS Servers: Add IP address: 10.0.0.10

The configured scopes options a shown.

Now we have connectivity to the outside world :D
